How to Integrate Shopify Contacts with Notim
Connect Notim with Shopify Contacts to add customers who subscribe to Back in Stock notifications to your Shopify Customers.
When Marketing Consent is enabled, a consent checkbox is displayed on the Back in Stock form. Customers who provide marketing consent can be added to Shopify Customers with their Back in Stock information and relevant tags.
What is Shopify Contacts Integration?
The Shopify Contacts integration allows Notim to add eligible Back in Stock subscribers to Shopify Customers.
When a customer subscribes to a Back in Stock notification and provides Marketing Consent, Notim adds the customer's information to Shopify Customers.
The customer is tagged with:
- back-in-stock
- Product name
If the same customer subscribes to Back in Stock notifications for another product, Notim updates the existing Shopify customer instead of creating a duplicate customer record.
How to Connect Shopify Contacts
Step 1: Open Integrations
From the Notim dashboard:
- Open Integrations.
- Find Shopify Contacts.
- Click Connect.
Step 2: Grant Shopify Customer Permissions
After connecting Shopify Contacts, Notim may require permission to access your Shopify customers.
If the Customer permission required message is displayed:
- Click Update permissions.
- Grant the required access to your Shopify customers.
Once the permission is granted, Notim can access Shopify customer information for Subscriber Management.
Step 3: Click Manage
After granting the required permission:
- Return to Integrations.
- Find Shopify Contacts.
- Click Manage.
This opens the Shopify Contacts settings page.
Step 4: Enable Marketing Consent

When Marketing Consent is enabled, a consent checkbox with a label is displayed on the Back in Stock form.
How Shopify Contacts Integration Works
After Shopify Contacts is connected and Marketing Consent is enabled, the integration works as follows:
Step 1: Customer Subscribes
A customer visits an out-of-stock product and subscribes to receive a Back in Stock notification.
Step 2: Customer Provides Consent
The customer enters their contact information and checks the Marketing Consent checkbox.
Step 3: Notim Receives the Information
Notim records the customer's contact information and Back in Stock subscription details.
Step 4: Customer Is Added to Shopify
The customer is added to Shopify Customers.
Step 5: Back in Stock Tags Are Added
Notim adds the relevant tags to the Shopify customer:
- back-in-stock

Step 6: Existing Customers Are Updated
If the customer already exists in Shopify, Notim updates the existing customer instead of creating a duplicate customer record.
Note: Customers who do not provide Marketing Consent are not inserted into Shopify Customers through this integration.

Existing Shopify Customers
If a customer already exists in Shopify and subscribes to Back in Stock for another product, Notim updates the existing Shopify customer.

Notim does not create a new Shopify customer record for the same customer.
